Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir, also known as Vithoba Temple, is a Hindu temple located in Pandharpur, Maharashtra. This temple is the main centre to worship Vithoba, which is a form of Lord Vishnu or Lord Krishna and his wife Rukmini. It is one of the most visited temples in Maharashtra. King Vishnuvardhana built the temple.
The temple is unique due to its strong association with the Varkari tradition, where millions of devotees visit as a spiritual journey (wari) singing abhangas (devotional hyms) in Marathi. The temple has a beautiful black idol of the Lord Vitthal, standing with arms akimbo, showing the divine serenity. Thus, the temple becomes important because of the divine beauty and the other important significance of the Lord Vittal.
