Sree Kadampuzha Bhagavathy Temple

The temple is situated  in melmuri, kadampuzha, within the Malappuram district of kerala. this temple is dedicated to goddess Parvati in her form as kiratha Parvathy. she is worshipped in three different forms throughout the day. in Morning As Vidya Durga (Saraswati), in Noon As Vanadurga (Twaritha Devi), Evening As Aadi Durga (Lakshmi). legend says arjun performed penance here to obtain the pashupathastra from lord shiva. shiva and Parvati tested him in the guise of a hunter (Kiratha) and huntress (Kirati). after the fierce battle, arjun realized their divinity when the flowers he offered to a stone fell at their feet. in the 8th century adi sankaracharya discovered a divine radiance at this spot. when the goddess appeared before him, she subsequently disappeared into the small hole in the ground. he established the temple around this hole. thrikkarthika, Rigveda laksharchana, Dravya Kalasam, Navaratri, Thiruvonam Mahotsavam are the major festivals celebrated here.
