About Sri Ayyappan Temple Ooty

The Sri Ayyappan Temple is a beautiful spiritual temple located centrally on Hospital Road in Upper Bazar, Ooty, Tamil Nadu. Dedicated to the principal deity Lord Ayyappan, this revered shrine stands as one of the town's key cultural landmarks. It is an older, established urban shrine in Ooty that acts as an important stopover and transit worship hub for regional Sabarimala pilgrims wearing the sacred Mala during the winter months. The temple comes alive with immense spiritual energy during major regional celebrations, specifically the grand Makaravilakku (Makara Sankranti) festival in mid-January, the vibrant Mandala Pooja season spanning November and December, and traditional Tamil New Year festivities.
