Sri Ganesh Temple, Secunderabad, is famous for its beautiful architecture and its history. It is believed that the idol of Ganesha was discovered by soldiers in the Madras Regiment while they were digging a well in 1824 and it was installed by Adi Shankaracharya of Kanchi Peetham based on Agama sashtra. The idol of Ganesha is unique as the Ganesha places his right hand on his right thigh, another holds Ankusham and a left hand holds the trunk and another holds Damarakam with Nagumpamu (the sacred snake), believed to be the only idol of the Ganesha in India posing in such a way. It also has Lord Shiva, Rahu Ketu, Sri Navagraha, Sri Subramanya Swamy, Sri Anjaneya, Maha Ganapathi and Sri Uma Maheshwari mandapam.
