About Sri Pataladhri Narasimhar Thirukovil

Sri Pataladhaari Narasimhar Thirukovil, also known as Pataladhaaripuram or Singaperumal Koil, is an ancient temple located in Chengalpattu district of Tamil Nadu. The temple is dedicated to Lord Narasimha, the fierce incarnation of Lord Vishnu. Pataladhaari means "depth of the mountain", as the temple is located on a small hill. The temple complex has a sacred tree named Ahingal (Angolam tree), where devotees make their wishes. Photography is prohibited in the sanctum sanctorum here. Sri Pataladhaari Narasimhar Thirukovil, also known as Pataladhaaripuram or Singaperumal Koil, is a spiritual and historical place for devotees, where fears and sorrows are dispelled by mere darshan. The temple is based on Vaikanasa Agama Shastra. There is a separate temple of Goddess Ahobilavalli Thayar (consort of the Lord) in the complex. Special poojas and abhishekam are performed. The festival idol of Lord Narasimha is taken around the city in a palanquin (Utsavam). Devotees observe fasts and recite stotras of Lord Narasimha.
