Sri Yellamma Pochamma Temple Hyderabad

Yellamma Temple is a Hindu goddess temple located at Balkampet in Hyderabad. Goddess Yellamma is considered the “Mother of the Universe," and she is also known as Goddess Renuka and Goddess Jagadamba. This Yellamma Devi Temple also has another small temple, towards the south side, for Pochamma Devi. Goddess Pochamma is the Kshetrapalaka of this temple. And therefore, the temple is also called Sri Yellamma Pochamma Devasthanam. Balkampet Yellamma Temple's history goes back to the 15th century. While digging a well, people found a rock with a sculpture of the goddess engraved on it. This idol was found 10 feet deep in the ground and they could not move the stone. So, a temple was built in that place. This temple has been renovated many times after that. The current temple has been standing tall for some time in the 20th century. Yellamma Jatra and Bonalu Festival are important festivals celebrated at Yellamma Temple.

The nearest railway station is Begumpet Railway Station, which is 2.2 km from Shri Yelamma Pochamma Temple. You can reach the temple by walking or by hiring a private rickshaw.

By Air

The closest airport is Shri Begumpet Airport. The temple is 3.8 km away from the airport. Domestic flights from major cities like Mumbai, Chennai and Delhi are available to reach here. You can hire a taxi from the airport, which will drop you at the temple in 15 minutes. 

By Road

Shri Pochamma Temple, Hyderabad, is well connected by roads and can be easily accessed by car or public buses run by TSRTC. To reach the Shri Yellamma Temple in Hyderabad by road, the Himayath Nagar Bus Stop is the nearest stop, located just a 7-minute walk from the temple.

Best Time to Visit Shri Yellamma Pochamma Temple, Hyderabad

It will be better for you to visit this temple at festival times like Yellamma Jatra and Bonalu Festival. Otherwise, October to March is the best time to visit this temple.
