About Ta Prohm Temple

Ta Prohm Temple is located in Siem Reap province of Cambodia. It is a part of the complex of the world famous Angkor Thom and Angkor Wat temples. Ta Prohm is especially famous for its natural state. The roots of huge trees are spread over the ruins of the temple, which gives it a mysterious and wonderful look. These trees are mainly Spung tree (Tetrameles nudiflora) and Ficus species. The temple has been built in Bayon Style. Beautiful stone carvings, statues and Buddha figures have been carved in it. The temple was originally built as a monastery and university. It has about 600 rooms, several galleries, and courtyards. Earlier about 12,500 people lived here, including priests, monks, teachers, and students. Apart from this, more than 80,000 people from villages were associated with the service of this temple. Main festivals were celebrated in the temple. First Khmer New Year, second Visakha Bucha and last Pinddan day in which devotees come in large numbers
