About Thawe Mandir in Gopalganj

Thawe mandir also popularly known as the maa thawe bhavani temple, located next to the thawe junction railway station in bihar's Gopalganj district. thawe mandir is a deeply cherished spiritual home dedicated to maa durga, affectionately called "thawe wali mata" by the millions who visit. this sacred 14th- century site is famous for a dramatic  legend involving a humble devotee named rahshu bhagat, who miraculously turned grass into grain to save villagers from starvation. when the arrogant local king manan singh demanded proof of this divine power, maa durga journeyed all the way from assam, As she appeared in Thawe, she split open Rahshu's head, showing her hand holding a bangle. The king’s palace crumbled and the kingdom fell into ruin, while Rahshu attained salvation. today the temple truly comes alive during Chaitra and shardiya Navratri around march and October, when the entire area transforms into a vibrant festival ground filled with grand fairs, beautiful decorations and colourful night prayers.
