This temple is dedicated to Goddess Vaishnavi, who is also known as Mata Rani, Vaishno Devi and Trikuta. Every year millions of devotees visit this temple for darshan, especially during Navratri. Mata Vaishno Devi is considered to be the incarnation of the power of Lord Vishnu. It is said that Mata rested in the Trikuta Hills after killing the Bhootnath demon (Bhairavnath). This holy temple is now located in the cave where Mata did penance.
