The Venugopala Swamy Temple is  located at Hosa Kannambadi, near KRS Dam, Mandya District, Karnataka. the most significant festival for this temple is celebrating the krishna Janmashtami. Vaikuntha ekadasi which was a major festival marking the opening of the gate to heaven drawing many devotees for special darshan. This temple is a best example of Hoysala architecture, bearing a striking resemblance to the Chennakesava Temple at Somanathapura. The walls of this temple are embellish with 24 murtis of the Dasavatara (Vishnu's incarnations) and detailed scenes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata. The garbhagriha has a stunning black stone idol of Lord Krishna playing the flute, flanked by his consorts. the temple complex has 46 sub-shrines dedicated to various gods and have a modern model of the famous hampi stone chariot outside the main courtyard. this temple stands on the raised platform designed for the pradakshina which is a hallmark of hoysala design. because of the KRS dam construction the original kannambadi village and its temple were completely submerged. the can only visible in the severe droughts when the reservoir water levels dropped. the khodey foundation has take a monumental restoration.
