Wat Traimit Withayaram Vorawihan is a Theravada Buddhist temple located in Chinatown, Bangkok. Wat Traimit Withayaram Vorawihan, also known as the Golden Buddha Temple, is famous for its huge gold Buddha statue, which is believed to be the world's largest solid gold Buddha statue. The temple's history dates back to the 19th century and was formerly known as Wat Sam Chin. Wat Traimit's history dates back to the 14th century. Originally known as "Wat Sam Chin", it was founded by three Chinese friends. In 1955, when the statue was being moved to the new building, it accidentally fell, breaking the plaster layer on top of it and revealing the gold statue underneath. The statue is named "Phra Phuttha Maha Suwanna Patimkon".
