Dhwaja Puja In Deoghar

The word "Dhwaja " means flag. Dhwaja is a symbol of honor, victory and power. Dhwaja Puja is done to take divine blessings and protection from God and Goddesses. In this includes worship of a flag raised on the temple. Dhwaja puja is a medium through which divine blessings can invoked. It is beleived that Dhwaja attracts positive cosmic force. 

In Dhwaja Puja at Deoghar, the priest begins with a Sankalp (vow) for the devotee’s wishes. The flag (Dhwaja) is purified with holy water, milk, and Ganga jal. Then, flowers, rice, incense, and lamps are offered to Lord Shiva while chanting mantras. The sacred flag is tied at Baba Baidyanath Temple with devotion. Finally, aarti is performed, and blessings are sought for success, peace, and protection from negative energies
