Teerth Shradh is a ritual dedicated to ancestors. The word "Teerth Shradh" is derived from Sanskrit language, This word is a combination of two words "Teerth" means sacred places, and Shardh is a ritual offering made to the deceased. Teerths are considered holy and spiritually significant. Performing this ritual helps the ancestors find peace and get rid of the cycle of birth and rebirth.
At first devotees take a bath in holy river before performing the shradh. It is required to wear white clothes during this ritual. Then sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Devotees offers water with mixed black sesame seeds, Kusha grass and White flowers to soul to satisfy the ancestors. As last devotees pray to God for salvation of the ancestors and the puja is complete.
