The word "Navratri" means "nine nights", Navratri is a significant festival celebrated over nine days, dedicated to the worship of goddess Durga in her nine forms. At Taratarini temple, the Navratri puja holds special significance, where a diya (Lamp) is lit for nine consecutive days in the name of the Yajman.
On the first day of the Navratri, just after the puja of the Maa taratarini the pujari ji takes the Sankalp in the name of the Yajaman and then the Diya is lightened and the invocation of Maa Taratarini is done. And then the lamp lights for the next 9 consecutive days.
