First Sankalp is taken in name of devotees. then abhishek of the shiva lingam using holy items such as water, milk, curd, honey, ghee, sugar and sacred bilva leaves while chanting mantras. after the abhishek the five brahmins undertake the daily portion of maha mrityunjaya jaap, maintaining purity, discipline and focused devotion throughout the five days period. in last day havan is performed and puja ends with arti.
