Durga SaptaSati, also known as Chandi Paath or Devi Mahatmya, is performed to achieve victory over all that is stopping you from achieving success. It describes the war between Devi Durga and Mahishasur and other demons as depicted by Rishi Markandey in 700 verses in his Purana. Durga saptashati path is dedicated to Goddess Durga and this path involves 13 chapters, including Kavach, Argala and Keelak.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then Goddess Durga is invoked by the priest with mantras and prayers. Then all the path incarnations of Goddess Durga are worshipped. Then Durga Saptashi is recited by the priest and this puja will take place in the sanctum sanctorum of Maya Devi. At the end of the puja, Havan is performed. At the end, the Aarti of the Goddess is performed and the puja is completed.
