A Namkaran Puja (Naming Ceremony) is one of the most significant of the 16 Sanskara in Hindu tradition. It is the formal process of naming a newborn. usually it is performed with Vedic rituals to seek blessings for the child's health, prosperity, and long life. this puja is done after the 11th or 12th day after the birth of the baby.
the preist purifies the house and family with ganga jal. first ganesh dev is worshiped to remove hurdles in the puja. a holy fire ritual is perform to seek blessing from the god and the nine planets. the father spreads raw rice on a bronze plate and writes the babys name in it. the father or aunt (bua) whispers the chosen name into babys right ear four times and elders shower the baby with akshata means sacred rice and flowers, followed by a feast. at last arti is done blessings are taken by devotees.
