About
Durga Saptashati Path is a powerful spiritual practice in the Maa Dhumavati Temple in Varanasi that implements the protective forces of the goddess Durga. One of the ten Mahavidya things, dedicated to Maa Dhumavati, is believed to be the temple with negativity. In 13 chapters, 700 verses from Markandeya Purana, known as Davi Mahamatyam, built Durga Saptashahati. Apart from telling the story of the goddess Durga with demons such as Mahishasura, Shumba-Nishumba, and Raktabija, which symbolizes the victory of good over evil, the book praises the three divine forms of the goddess: Mahakali, Mhalakshmi, and Mahasaraswati.
It begins with Sankalpa, and sandalwood paste is applied to purify the body and mind. Ganesha puja is performed to remove obstacles, then Guru puja is performed to honor the spiritual guide. And taking water in your hand, a Sankalp is taken by stating the purpose of the ritual, then offering it to the earth, placing Durga Saptashati on a lotus or peepal leaf and listening to all 13 chapters, and after this flowers, incense, and lamps are offered. Invoke divine energy upon the body and then sing hymns praising Durga. While chanting the Durga Gayatri Mantra, you can offer ghee, sesame seeds, and herbs and end it with homa.
