Rudrabhishekam Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple

Rudrabhishekam is regarded as a sacred Vedic ceremony. It is held at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple. The puja honours Lord Shiva in his Rudra avatar. Although the temple is for Lord Narasimha, the purpose of this event is to seek Shiva's blessings. Prayers are offered by devotees for protection, health, and spiritual growth. Throughout the ceremony, the Shiva Lingam is cleansed. Priests utilise water, milk, honey, curd, ghee, sugar, and coconut water. They perform moving tunes from Rudram and the Chamakam. Both the surroundings and the mind are cleansed by this abhishekam. It is usually practiced on Mondays, Pradosham days, and Maha Shivaratri. The mantras remove negative karma and provide peace. They also encourage affluence and introspection.

Rudrabhishekam at Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple begins with the purification of the puja area and Sankalpam, where the devotee’s name, gotra, and intent are stated. A Shiva Lingam is placed on a clean pedestal or Yagna Vedika. The priest then performs Ganapati Puja to remove obstacles. The abhishekam starts by offering sacred items one by one on the Shiva Lingam—water (Jalam), milk (Ksheeram), curd (Dadhi), honey (Madhu), ghee (Ghritam), sugar, coconut water, and Panchamrutam. As each item is poured, powerful mantras from the Sri Rudram and Chamakam are chanted, invoking Lord Shiva’s Rudra aspect. Flowers, Bilva leaves, sandal paste, and incense are also offered. The abhishekam concludes with the Aarti, Pradakshina, and distribution of prasadam. Devotees may also participate in chanting or silent meditation during the puja. This ritual cleanses sins, calms planetary doshas, and grants blessings for health, prosperity, spiritual growth, and inner peace through Lord Shiva’s divine energy.
