About
The Tripindi Shradh Puja is an important ritual performed in Bodh Gaya to bring peace to the departed souls of ancestors who may have left the world with unfulfilled desires or without proper last rites. Performing this puja helps remove Pitru Dosh and liberates the souls from the cycle of birth and death.
This puja involves offering three Pindas (made of rice, sesame seeds, jaggery, and ghee) to three generations of ancestors. In Bodh Gaya, the ritual is performed at the sacred Vishnupad Temple and the banks of the Phalgu River, where Lord Vishnu himself is believed to have granted salvation to the ancestors of Lord Rama.
Dress Code
Gents: Dhoti & Gamcha (must carry separately for the puja).
Ladies: Saree (avoid wearing black or green during the ritual).
Devotees are advised to purchase or carry fresh clothes for the puja.
1. Sankalp – The devotee takes a vow in the name of their ancestors with the guidance of the priest.
2. Pind Daan – Three pindas are prepared and offered to three generations of ancestors, placed on Kusha grass or Vishnu Pad.
3. Mantra Japa & Tarpan – Vedic mantras are recited, and water mixed with sesame is offered to the departed souls.
4. Completion Ritual – The puja concludes with blessings and prayers for peace, harmony, and removal of Pitru Dosh.
