History of Shri Vaijnath Jyotirling Maharashtra

The history of Parli Vaijnath Temple is very old and spiritual. It was constructed in the 12th or 13th century under the Yadava kingdom. The temple was later restored by Queen Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century. To appease Lord Shiva, Ravana performed severe penance. He was given the Jyotirlinga by Shiva to carry to Lanka. Ravana was deceived into placing it on the ground while travelling. The Jyotirlinga became the Parli Vaijnath Jyotirlinga and remained there indefinitely. As a result, Parli became one of India's twelve revered Jyotirlingas. Tulsi leaves are presented to Lord Shiva in this temple. Lord Vishnu is offered bilva leaves. This goes against what is typically done in Hinduism. It demonstrates how Vaishnavism and Shaivism are one. "Lord of Physicians" is the meaning of the names Vaijnath and Vaidyanath. The Jyotirlinga is thought to have therapeutic properties by devotees. Here, worship is believed to promote health and heal sickness.
