Sri Padmavathi Thayar Temple, This temple is dedicated to Goddess Padmavathi, the wife of Lord Venkateswara (Balaji). Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, located in Tiruchanur, Andhra Pradesh, is a major Hindu temple dedicated to Goddess Padmavathi (Alamelu Manga). This temple is located about 5 km from Tirupati city and it is a tradition to visit here before going to Tirumala Venkateswara Swamy Temple. This temple is under the administration of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) and is very popular among devotees. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi, annoyed with Lord Vishnu, resided in Patala Loka for 12 years. In the 13th year, on Ekadasi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month, Goddess Lakshmi returned to this holy lake (Padmasarovar). The main festivals of the temple are Padmavathi Brahmotsavam festival which is attended by millions of devotees. The temple premises are decorated grandly and special poojas, homas, and cultural programs are held.
