About
Amarkantak is the birthplace of River Narmada and it is considered a holy river of India. Narmada known as Reva, has been worshipped by peoples as Goddess and Lokmata. It is the only river which is circumambulated and also mentioned in the Puranas that the results which cannot be obtained even by bathing in can be obtained by seeing the Narmada.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking of Goddess Narmada is done with mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then things like Dhoop, Akshat etc. are offered to Goddess Narmada. At last, arti is done by the pujari and the blessings are taken by the devotees.
