About

Laghu Rudrasbhishek, also called Laghu Rudra puja is a powerful ritual dedicated to Lord Shiva. Performing this ritual at Bhimashankar Temple, one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas in India, is believed to bring peace, prosperity and liberation from negative karmas. It involves the chanting of Rudra Sukta from the Yajurveda while offering water, milk, honey, ghee and other sacred items to Shivalinga. This offering represents the devotees devotion to Lord Shiva.

During the small Rudrabhishek puja at Bhimashankar temple, a vow is taken in the name of the devotees. During the process of bathing the Shivling, the priests chant mantras. These mantras are Rudra Sukta. After bathing the Shivling, the priest purifies it with a mixture of curd, honey, cow's milk, sugarcane, rice and other things. The puja ends with the aarti of the Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga and Prasad is distributed among the devotees.

In this puja, 11 verses of Rudri (Namak - Chamak) are recited, Mahavastra is offered to the Lord, food is served to 11 Brahmins and Naivedya is offered to the Lord.

Note:-If Prasad and Brahmin food are available on the day when booking is available.
