Kolhapur - Maha Abhishek Vastrasah

The Panchamrit Kumkumarchan Abhishek ritual is carried out in Kolhapur where the Kumkumarchana is a combination of two words "Kumkum" is a red powder and "Archana" means offering. In this ritual, god is offered Panchamrit( a mixture of 5 things mainly Milk, Curd, Honey, Sugar and Ghee.) In this ritual, devotees worship the Goddess by applying kumkum to their idols or images. Worshipping Goddess with kumkum is very beneficial to devotees and it's an easy way to connect with the Goddess. This ritual gets more powerful when devotees perform while chanting mantras.

In this ritual, Abhishek is done on the Goddess with the help of Panchamrit. Offering kumkum to Goddess is very sacred but offering kumkum with Naivedhyam is very beneficial to devotees. After the offering of bhog to Goddess is done it is distributed as prasad. It is believed that performing this ritual is the best way of expressing devotion to the Goddess.
