About
Narayan Nagbali consists of two different rituals. Narayan Bali in Prachi is done to get rid of an ancestral curse (Pitru dosh /Pitru Shaap) while Nag bali is done to get rid of sin committed by the killing of a snake, especially a Cobra which is worshipped in India. Narayan Nagbali Bali Puja at Prachi is performed to appease Lord Narayan for the unnatural death of a human or any Pitru Dosh found in the horoscope. This puja is to be performed in all cases of unnatural deaths, like death by animals, fire, curse, cholera, disease, suicide, snake bite etc. Narayan Bali is performed to fulfil and pacify the unsatisfied desires of dead souls who are trapped in our world because these desires stay with the soul even after death. To get rid of their pain they trouble their own family.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking of gods like Narayan (Vishnu), Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva etc. with the help of mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then pujari ji use an artificial body of wheat flour and chants mantras to invoke the soul that has certain unfulfilled wishes. Then devotees perform rituals like pind daan, Varshik shradh, panch bali and akadash shradh of their ancestors. Then offering of things like rice balls, kumkum, gulaal etc. is done by the pujari with the help of mantras and following proper Vedic rituals. At last, blessings are taken and the puja is completed.
