About
Pitru dosh word is a combination of two words 'Pitru' which means forefather and 'dosh' means defect or imbalance in a person's kundali. Pitru dosh occurs when the position of Rahu and Ketu is uncertain in a person's birth Chart. Pind Daan is a ritual performed by offering prayers to the ancestors or the soul. The puja is an important part of Hindu funeral rites and is done to have a peaceful journey of the departed soul. This ritual is mostly performed on Pitru Paksha or death anniversary.
At first, devotees take a bath in the holy river and wear a ring of "Kush" grass. Then, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. During this ritual, reciting the Gayatri Mantra is the most important part. Devotees offer Rice, Ghee, Sugar, water with mixed black sesame seeds, kusa grass and White flowers to the oul to satisfy them, and then devotees offer sweets and clothes to the pujari with the south side face. At last, devotees share food with the crow, ants and dogs and the puja is completed.
