Dosh Nivaran Puja in Porbandar is performed to remove the negative effects of nine celestial bodies, called Navgraha in Vedic astrology. The 9 celestial bodies include Sun, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu. According to astrology, the change or transformation in the position of planets can change a person's life like various doshas. To perform this puja, Havan/Homa is performed while chanting Navgrah Puja Mantra. During the puja, people light incense sticks and diya with full devotion. Grah Shanti Havan is a sacred fire ritual that aims to receive blessings from and appease the planets and celestial bodies in Vedic astrology. It is performed to reduce the negative effects of planetary positions or combinations in a person's birth chart.

At, first Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then mantras are chanted to invoke all the Navgrah or nine planets. Along with it Lord Ganesha is invoked to remove any kinds of obstacles or hurdles that might affect the puja. Then offering of things like flowers etc. are done by the pujariji along with chanting of mantras for all the Navgrah. At last aarti is done and the puja is completed.
