About
Bilva Patra Arpan means offering Bilva Patra. The Bilva Tree is considered sacred and Bilva Tree leaf is most favourite tree of Lord Shiva. The Bilva Patra represents the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. Bilva Patra has three gun – Sattva, Rajas and Tamas which create all aspects of creation. Bilva Patra has also been given importance in Ayurveda due to its medicinal properties. The three leaves of the Bilva tree are called Bilva Dal, which is considered to be a representation of Trishul, the weapon of Lord Shiva. By performing Bel Patra Puja, devotees get the blessings of Lord Shiva.
At first Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking Lord Shiva is done with mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then 1,25,000 Bilva Ptara, flowers and Jal are offered Lord Shiva along with mantras chanted by the pujari. At last, arti is done by the pujari and blessings are taken by the devotees.
