Pind daan and tarpan puja are performed at the sacred triveni ghat in Rishikesh is a tradional Vedic ceremony dedicated to offering prayers, gratitude and spiritual nourishment to departed ancestors. conducted on the holy banks of the river ganga under the guidance of experienced brahmin priests, this priests, this ritual combines ancestral offerings, water oblations and a sacred fire ceremony to pray for the peace, satisfaction and higher spiritual journey of the departed souls. the sanctity of the triveni ghat and the presence of the holy ganga make this ceremony especially auspicious for performing pitru karya (ancestral rites).
The puja starts with a Sankalp and prayers to lord ganeshna, lord Vishnu and mother ganga under the guidance of a priest, pind daan is performed by offering pindas prepared from rice, black sesame seeds, barley flour, honey and ghee for the peace of the departed ancestors. this is followed by tarpan, where water mixed with black sesame seeds and sacred kusa grass is offered while chanting Vedic mantras and remembering the ancestors. the ritual concludes with a havan, and offerings are offered into havan kund with chanting of mantras. in last arti is performed and blessings are taken by devotees.
