About

The word "Tarpan" is a sanskrit word Tarpan means satisfaction. This is the root word from where the name Tarpan evolved. Tarpan vidhi is dedicated to ancestors. The Tarpan vidhi is performed to honor the ancestors. In this ritual water is offered to the departed souls. Performing Tarpan vidhi helps to satisfy the ancestors.

At first devotees take deep bath in river. It is required to wear white clothes during the puja vidhi. Then sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Pujariji chants mantra while Devotees offer water with mixed black sesame seeds, Kusha grass and White flowers to soul to satisfy them. At last the devotees pray for the salvation of the souls of their ancestors.
