Saptashrungi - Ooti Puja with Dudh Abhishek

Saptashrungi temple is dedicated to Goddess Saptashrungidevi. It is believed that the Saptashrungi temple is one of the three and half Shakti peeth. Performing puja at this temple is very beneficial to devotees. Abhishek is a Sanskrit word Abhishek means sprinkling. Abhishek puja is a ritual in which devotees offers various tings to the Goddess. In this ritual devotees offers thing like Milk, Water, Ghee, Curd, Honey, Flowers to the Goddess. 

Performing puja at Shakti peeth is very beneficial to devotees. Milk is the primary ingredient of this puja. Dudh abhishek is a ritual where milk is offers to Goddess. In this ritual Goddess idol is bathed with the help of milk. During this puja mantras are chanted by the pujari. 

Panchamrit Abhishek is a ritual puja where five liquids are poured over the deities and mantras are chanted. Thw word Panchamrit is combination of two words Panch which means five and Amrita which means nectar. The five main ingredients are used to make Panchamrit including milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar. These all are mixed. Mantras are chanted throughout the process and once the puja is completed, the Panchamrut is distributed as prasad. 

The word kumkumarchana is combination of two words "Kumkum" is a red powder and "Archana" means offering. In this ritual devotees worship Goddess by applying kumkum to their idols. Worshipping Goddess with kumkum is very beneficial to devotees and it's an easy way to connect with the Goddess. The red color is considered auspicious and sign devotion, energy, and the transformative power of the goddess. "Naivedhyam" refers to the food that is offered to deities during worship or rituals. The Naivedhyam consist of various thing like Fruit, Sweets, Cooked dishes and other vegetarian food items. After the offering of Naivedhyam to deity is done it is distributed as prasad. It is believed that by offering Naivedhyam to the God is best way of expressing devotation to the deities. It is believed that Naivedhyam is an integral part of worship.

"Durga" is known as "Durgatinashini' means "The one who eliminates suffering". Durga saptashati path is dedicated to Goddess Durga and this path involves 13 chapters which includes Kavach, Argala an d Keelak. Durga Saptashati path is also known as the Chandi path this path is collection of 700 mantra that worship the Goddess Durga. Durga saptashati path describe the story of triumph of Goddess Durga over the demon Mosasaur. All the nine forms of Maa Durga are worshipped during this puja.   

The term "Navchandi" is derived from two words "Nav' means nine and "Chandi" referes to the goddess Chandi or Durga. In this ritual all the nine forms od the Goddess are worshipped. During this ritual involves the reciation of the Durga Saptashatipath which involves 700 verses divided into 13 chapters. This verse describe the story of the the battle between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura.
