Saptashrungi - Abhishek puja

Performing Dudh Abhishek puja puja at Saptashrungi is very beneficial to devotees. Milk is the primary ingredient of this puja. Dudh Abhishek is a ritual where milk is offered to the Goddess. In this ritual Goddess idol is bathed with the help of milk. During this puja mantras are chanted by the pujari. 

Panchamrit Abhishek is a ritual puja arranged in Saptashrungi where five liquids are poured over the deities and mantras are chanted. Panchamrit is a combination of two words Panch which means five and Amrita which means nectar. The five main ingredients are used to make Panchamrit including milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar. These all are mixed. Mantras are chanted throughout the process and once the puja is completed, the Panchamrut is distributed as prasad. 

The word kumkumarchana is a combination of two words "Kumkum" is a red powder and "Archana" means offering. In this Kumkumarchana ritual at Saptashrungi , devotees worship the Goddess by applying kumkum to their idols. Worshipping Goddess with kumkum is very beneficial to devotees and it's an easy way to connect with the Goddess. The red colour is considered auspicious and signifies devotion, energy, and the transformative power of the goddess. Naivedhyam is the ritual puja which takes place in Saptashrungi & the word "Naivedhyam" refers to the food that is offered to deities during worship or rituals. The Naivedhyam consist of various things like Fruit, Sweets, Cooked dishes and other vegetarian food items. After the offering of Naivedhyam to the deity is done it is distributed as prasad. It is believed that offering Naivedhyam to God is the best way of expressing devotion to the deities. It is believed that Naivedhyam is an integral part of worship.

 "Goddess Durga" is known as "Durgatinashini' which means "The one who eliminates suffering". Durga Saptashati path in Saptashrungi is dedicated to Goddess Durga and this path involves 13 chapters which include Kavach, Argala and Keelak. Durga Saptashati path is also known as the Chandi path this path is a collection of 700 mantras that worship the Goddess Durga. Durga saptashati path describes the story of the triumph of Goddess Durga over the demon Mosasaur. All the nine forms of Maa Durga are worshipped during this puja.   

Navchandi Yagna is held in the Saptashrungi & the term "Navchandi" is derived from two words "Nav' means nine and "Chandi" refers to the goddess Chandi or Durga. In this ritual, all the nine forms of the Goddess are worshipped. This ritual involves the recitation of the Durga Saptashatipath which involves 700 verses divided into 13 chapters. This verse describes the story of the battle between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura.  

 This ritual is dedicated to the Goddess Saptashrungi. This temple is known as one of the "Three and half Shakti Peeth of Maharashtra. It is believed that the Goddess idol is Swaymabhu. The word abhishek is a Sanskrit word, Abhishek means sprinkling. Doing abhishek puja is very sacred. During this ritual, things like Milk, Turmeric, Honey, Flowers, Saree, Jewelry etc. are offered to the Goddess. This Maha Abhishek Puja ritual in Saptashrungi is performed to show devotion, seek blessings, and express reverence towards the Goddess.
