The Saryu River is located in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, specifically in the holy city of Ayodhya. It is believed that the Saryu is originated from the left toe of the Lord Vishnu. "Saryu Ghat Puja" a religious ritual conducted on the banks of the River Saryu. The Saryu River in Ayodhya is considered a holy river. It is beleived that performing rituals like Arati, Chanting mantras, Offering flowers and Incense to the river, and conducting prayers purifies the soul of the devotees. It is mentioned in Skanda Purana reveres Sarayu's waters as universally holy.
At first Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking of River Saryu, Ganga and other 1000 rivers is done with the help of mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then thing like flowers, fruits, prasad etc by the pujari with the help of mantras and by following all the Vedic rituals. At last, aarti is done by the Pujari and then blessings are taken by the devotees.
