The literal meaning of Kaal Sarp Dosh is, Kaal means "time", Sarp means "snake" and Dosh means "fault or problem". When all the seven planets come between Rahu and Ketu, then a person has Kaal Sarp Dosh in his birth chart. These two planets "Rahu" and "Ketu" represent the "head" and "tail" of the snake. It is believed that Kaal Sarp Dosh can bring many problems like financial and health related problems and obstacles in career. To get protection from the negative effects of Kaal Sarp Dosh, it is necessary to perform puja in devghar.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then first Lord Ganesh is worshipped to remove hurdles during the puja. Kaal sarp dosh nivaran vidhi is performed by the pujari along with mantras are also chanted. Then worshipping of Navagraha is done. At last, puja is complete and the devotees seek forgiveness and blessings from Lord Rahu and Ketu.
