About

Pashupatinath Laghu Rudra Abhishek is a ritual done for worshipping Lord Shiva while chanting mantras. In this ritual, Panchamrut (milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar) is offered to Shiva. This pooja is performed by experienced priests and they recite powerful mantras by taking the Sankalp in the name of the devotee. While doing Abhishekam on Shiva Lingam, the chanted mantras are Rudra Suktha Mantras. After the Abhishekam, the priest purifies it with different mixtures. At last, aarti is done by the Shivling then Maha Mitrunjay Jaap is started.

At first, the Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Rudra Abhishek meaning is the holy bath of the Shivling which is done with offerings of a sacred mixture of liquids like Milk, Gangajal (water of River Ganga), Honey, Curd (Yogurt), Sugarcane juice, Sandalwood paste etc. Then the aarti is done and Mahamrityunjay Jaap is started.
