About
Krishna Ashtami, or Sri Krishna Janmashtami, celebrates the divine birth of Lord Krishna at ISKCON Nellore with great devotion. The temple glows with lights and flowers as devotees participate in mangala aarti, abhishekam, Jhulan Seva, Shringar Darshan, bhajans, kirtans, Krishna Katha, and midnight maha-aarti. Numerous bhog offerings are made and shared as prasadam. The festival grants blessings of devotion, protection, and spiritual joy, symbolizing divine love and the triumph of dharma.
Krishna Ashtami Puja begins with achamanam (purification) and sankalpam (vow) to worship Lord Krishna with devotion. A decorated altar with baby Krishna’s idol (Laddu Gopal) is prepared with flowers, lights, and rangoli. The puja includes lighting a diya, Kalash sthapana, and offering sandalwood, tulsi, and flowers. A panchamrit abhishekam and naivedyam of butter, sweets, and fruits are offered. Devotees sing bhajans and celebrate Krishna’s midnight birth with aarti, conch blowing, and prasadam.
