About
Asthi Visarjan Puja is a sacred Hindu ritual performed after the cremation of a deceased person, in which the ashes and bone remains of the departed soul are immersed in a holy river. Rishikesh, situated on the banks of the sacred River Ganga, is a spiritually significant place for performing this last rite. The ritual is performed with prayers and traditional Vedic customs to pay respect to the departed soul and offer prayers for its peace and spiritual journey.
The Asthi Visarjan Puja start with a Sankalp, in which the Pandit Ji takes the name of the departed soul and the family while offering prayers for the soul's peace. The priest then performs the customary puja and chants Vedic mantras near the holy River Ganga. The family offers prayers and flowers in remembrance of their loved one. After the prayers, the ashes and bone remains are respectfully immersed in the sacred waters of the Ganga according to Hindu traditions. The ceremony ends with prayers for the departed soul's sadgati and peace, seeking the blessings of Maa Ganga.
