About
Tarpan Puja in Ujjain is a traditional Hindu ritual performed to offer water and prayers to ancestors (Pitru). It is done to express gratitude, remember departed family members and seek their blessings. Tarpan is commonly performed as part of Pitru rituals and Shradh ceremonies.
The Tarpan Puja begins with Sankalp, where the devotee’s name, Gotra, and the names of the ancestors are taken with prayers. Water mixed with black sesame seeds (Til), Kusha grass and other traditional offerings is offered to the ancestors at the sacred Shipra River. The ritual ends with prayers for Pitru Shanti and blessings.
