The Vishwakarma Puja ritual begins with cleaning the workplace, machines and equipment. A clean altar is set up with an idol or picture of Lord Vishwakarma. Then salnalpa is taken with the names of the devotees. Then, the Panditji invokes Lord Vishnu through chanting and prayers, holy water, an urn made of coconut and mango leaves is placed. Devotees apply turmeric, kumkum and flowers on the equipment, vehicles and machines. Incense, lamps, fruits, sweets and prasad are offered. Special mantras and Vishwakarma Aarti are recited. Finally, havan and prayers are performed, and prasad is distributed for safety, progress and prosperity.
