The Tripindi Shradha Puja is a ritual performed in Trimbakeshwar to bring peace to the souls of ancestors who have died with unfulfilled desires or without proper rites. It is believed that this puja can remove the Pitru Dosh. Tripindi Shradha Puja can be performed at any holy place. This puja includes offering 3 Pinds to three generations of ancestors.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then three Pindas are offered to the three generations of ancestors along with other things such as jaggery, ghee etc. The Pindas are placed on a Vishnu Pad or a Kusha grass mat. Then mantras are chanted and water offering is done to the ancestors.
The devotees will have to purchase the clothes to be worn during the puja. Gents have to carry Dhoti, Gamcha, and ladies have to carry saree for themselves. Please take note that you should not wear green or black while attending the puja ritual.
