Temples in Pushkar

Brahma temple is a Hindu temple located in Pushkar, Rajasthan close to the sacred Pushkar Lake. This temple is also known as Jagatpita Brahma Mandir. There are very existing temples dedicated to Lord Brahma in India. The temple is made of marble and stone slabs. The Varaha temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in the city of Pushkar in Rajasthan. The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu one of the avatars that is Varaha. The temple was built in the 12th century by King Anaji Chauhan as a tribute to Lord Vishnu the construction of the temple follows designs and idols from the story of Lord Varaha. The temple was destroyed and rebuilt in the 18th century.

Devoted to lord Vaikuntha Venkatesh, the new Rangji temple is amongst the most ancient temples in Pushkar. This temple is known for its mesmerizing architectural design including the high-rising Gopuram, which is common amongst several South Indian temples followed by a beautiful entrance. The temple, through its layout, also carries the essence of Mughal architecture as well. Inside the temple, it is also found that four corners are embedded with Garuda, signifying the presence of Vaikuntha Venkatesh. Among the temple exists sections there are other temples which are dedicated to various gods including Goddess Laxmi and Lord Krishna among others.

The Savitri Temple is located on Ratnagiri Hill in the city of Pushkar, Rajasthan. The temple is dedicated to Mata Savitri who is the first wife of Lord Brahma. In this temple, there are two idols of both the wives of Lord Brahma named Savitri and Gayatri. But as per tradition Goddess Savitri is always worshipped first and then prayer is offered to Goddess Gayatri. Mata Gayatri is known as the second wife of Lord Brahma. According to the legend, Lord Brahma performed a Yagna at Pushkar where his wife Saraswati could not reach on time. Hence, in order to perform the pooja on time, Lord Brahma completed the ritual with the help of a local girl, Gayatri who then became the second wife of Brahma.
