The name Chandi comes from the word “chand” which in Sanskrit word meaning to tear apart. The Chandi path is also called the Durga Saptashati path. It comprises the 13 chapters of the Markandeya Purana. It describes the story between Good and Evil, that is Goddess Durga destroying the Demon Mahishasura.
At first, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking of Goddess Durga is done with the help of mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then the normal path of Goddess Durga is done and Goddess Durga is worshipped along with it.
