Mahabaleshwar - Jal Abhishek Puja

Panchamrit are a mixture of five foods used in Hindu worship puja and Abhiṣeka It is often used as an offering during pooja posts which is distributed as prasad. The five main ingredients used to make Panchamrit including milk, curd, honey, ghee and sugar. All five liquids are poured over the Shivling and mantras are chanted. Panchamrit Abhishek takes places in Mahabaleshwar. 

Dudh Abhishek is a way of worshipping the Rudra avatar of Lord Shiva. Dudh Abhishek is the holy bath of Shivlinga which is done with the offering of milk. It is believed that Dudh Abhishek on Lord Shiva increases the effectiveness of the puja. The priest chants mantras during this puja. Offering milk to Lord Shiva during the ritual is a way of accepting and receiving his divine grace and blessings.
