Saraswati Pushkaralu Kaleshwaram - Maha Amrita Mrityunjaya Homam

Saraswati Pushkaralu Kaleshwaram - Maha Amrita Mrityunjaya Homam

About

The Maha Amrut Mrityunjaya Homam is a powerful Vedic fire ritual, honoring Lord Shiva as Mrityunjaya, the conqueror of death. Apart from helping people recover from chronic or life-threatening illnesses, this sacred homa is performed to seek divine protection against untimely death and to promote spiritual growth and inner peace. The chanting of the Maha Mrityunjaya mantra is the highlight of the ceremony.

"Urvarukamiva Bandhanam Mrityo Mukshiya Maamrutaat || Om Tryambakam Yajamahe Sugandhim Pushtivardhanam."

This mantra is highly regarded for its ability to bestow vitality, health, and freedom. The homa is particularly recommended during times of health crisis, on birthdays for longevity, during spiritually significant occasions such as Maha Shivaratri or Pradosham, or after surviving significant life-threatening events.

The Sankalpa, in which devotees declare their intention, marks the beginning of the puja. This is followed by Kalash Sthapana, which invokes the divine presence, and Ganpati Puja, which removes obstacles. Navagraha Puja is performed to seek planetary balance, and Punyahavachanam purifies the place. An optional Mrityunjaya Abhishekam can be offered to the Shiva Linga. Offering oblations into the holy fire while chanting mantras 108 or 1008 times is the primary ritual. Finally, Poornahuti, the final yagna, is performed, followed by Aarti and distribution of prasad.
