The word Gondhal is originated from the Marathi language. Gondhal holds cultural significance. The Gondhal is an important and religious ceremony. The Gondhal puja is performed at Tulja Bhawani Temple. Gondhal puja is performed to invoke the blessings of Goddess Tulja Bhawani. It is believed that this ritual was performed by Shivaji Maharaj during his first victory over the Mughals.
At first, sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then invoking of Goddess Tulja Bhawani is done with the help of mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then offerings like coconut, bananas, rice, dried dates, betel nuts, turmeric, kumkum, and Diya are made to the Goddess. At Last arti is done and blessings are taken by the devotees.
