About
Chandi refers to Chandika, meaning “The Fierce” –another form of Goddess Durga who represents the Shakti power of Durga; this hawan ritual is dedicated to Goddess Chandi. This ritual involves recitation of the Durga Saptashati, the Durga Saptashati path consisting of 700 verses describing the goddess’s victory over demons like Mahishasura, Shumbha-Nishumbha, and others. Chandi path is considered one of the most powerful hawan to remove problems.
At first, Kalash is established on a pot with the help of coconut and mango leaves. Then, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then the invoking of Goddess Durga is with the help of mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then Pujariji sets fire to the hawan kund and performs the Hawan vidhi, followed by the chanting of Durga Saptashati from the Markandeya Purana. Devotees offer ahuti into the Hawan kund and pray for their good life and welfare. At last, the hawan is complete, and the blessings are taken by the devotees.
