Sri Putrakameshti Homam is a Vedic ritual performed by people who wish to have children. This havan is considered to be a special ritual dedicated to Putrakameshti who is a form of Lord Vishnu. This homam is performed to get children and bring happiness and peace in the family.
At first, a Kalash is installed on a vessel with the help of coconut and mango leaves. After that, Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then Putrakameshti Deva and all the gods and goddesses are invoked with chanting mantras and prayers. Then the pujari ji sets fire to the havan kund and this homam is performed according to the rules of Atharvaveda and Yajurveda. Devotees offer oblations in the havan kund and pray for their good life and well-being. Finally the homam is completed and blessings are taken by the devotees.
