About
Navgrah word is a combination of two words: "Nav" means nine, and "Grah" means planet. The Navgrahs are namely Surya, Chandra, Mangal, Budh, Guru, Shukra, Shani, Rahu, and Ketu. Placement of Navgrah in a person's Kundali determines their effects. If the graph is well placed, that means it will have positive effects. The Navgrah puja is conducted to seek blessings from all the nine planets. It is believed that Navgrah Puja is performed to remove misfortune and eliminate all the negative effects of the nine planets.
At first Kalash is established on a pot with the help of coconut and mango leaves. Then Sankalp is taken in the name of the devotees. Then the invoking of all nav grahs is with the help of mantras and prayers by the pujari. Then Pujariji sets fire to the hawan kund and performs the Hawan vidhi followed by the chanting of Nav Grah mantras. Devotees offer ahuti into the Hawan kund and pray for their good life and welfare. At last the hawan is complete, and the blessings are taken by the devotees.
