Chittoor is a district of Andhra Pradesh, with famous temples one of which is the Kanipakkam Vinayaka Temple. The word Kanipakam originates from two Tamil words Kani means wetland and Pakam means flow of water. The idol of Swayambhu Vinayaka is inside Kalyani, a lake in which the idol was originally found. It is believed that the main idol of this temple, Lord Vinayaka is self-manifested, hence it is also called with the name of Swayambhu Sri Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy Temple.
